Every person has one such passion in life which he treasures and
loves till the end. It refers to any form of art. Dance is the one for me.
Dancing is something that occupies a very special space in my life. I have
never ending and ever growing love for it. Dancing has been a passion ever
since I was a kid which is preferred over anything, any given day without a
second thought. It is something that gives me infinite happiness, in the real
sense.
What started as a forced routine only grew to become a source of
happiness to me. The one and only person who is responsible for my love for
dance, is my mom. She was the first backing force to take me on
this amazing journey of classical dance, because of her own liking for dance. I
started learning dance in a real professional manner from the age of 7.
Bharatanatyam is the form that I started to learn from my honorable guru Smt.
Lata Surendran. The thought of learning a classical form of dance disturbed me
at that age because I thought it was boring in comparison to the Bollywood and
western form of dances. But, as I started to learn it, I developed a different
love for it which has only grown till now.
Back then I knew nothing about classical dance all I knew was I was
enjoying those class sessions and it was making me happy and letting me to
learn new things. The dance practices before a show, the process of setting up
the whole act was so much. It’s a sheer myth that classical from of dance or
music is boring, in fact it gives you pleasure and a sense of peace once you
start to understand it.
Dance, may it be any form, it gives me happiness. It puts life in
me. Also a good piece of dance performance can make my day, literally. This
amazing journey of dance has given me the opportunity to visit different
places, meet different kinds of people and befriend them. It has also given me
the chance to be under the supervision of great classical dancers and share the
stage with them. It has been more than an over-whelming journey for me till
now. All I know is, I love dance to bits and pieces and it would only grow to
no limits.
